So for people who might be interested in Apocalypse World and such I thought I would put this up. A step-by-step creation of a Hardholder.
Ok , so I decide that I drastically want to shape the narrative of the world and have a claim in it. I choose the Hardholder. I am frickin Tina Turner from Thunderdome. Cool. So now it's time to get started.
I look at this list of names. Now some people would say you HAVE to pick one of the selected names, now when I first played this game in a game run by simon awhile back I just interpreted it as examples. This area is rather hotly debated. Some people think you need to stick to the list. Others don't. Really I think the main thing of importance is, as long as it doesn't have overt cultural significance, you are ok. For example if you happened to be a blond pretty boy kick ass warrior with golden armor and named yourself Alexander...that wouldn't be cool. Overt references to the past, yeah not really good. Because the past is gone.
So that little rant aside. I'll make a name of my own. "Sugar".
Then I'll choose a look. Well she's gonna be a she. So female.
Luxe wear seems interesting and I want her to have a gorgeous face (out of the options available). To top it off a mixture of forgiving eyes and a sensual body seem like an interesting combo.
So at the end of that we have
Sugar, the Hardholder
woman, gorgeous face, forgiving eyes, sensual body
gear: luxe wear (I would detail this later)
Now to choose a stat array.
You'll notice that most of the stat arrays end up with +3 except for the one which has Sharp at +2. That is because having another stat at +2 is usually considered quite advantageous. So you get less points overall when you start , if you go with that stat array. Since I'm not really into that. I'm going to go with
Cool=-1 Hard=+1 Hot=+1 Sharp=+1 Weird=0
Stats can give you a story of their own in some ways. So I figure maybe she lets her emotions get to her at times. Her forgiving eyes come into play , perhaps?
So that's it for this page.
Ok so I get "Leadership" by default, that is not an issue. What I do have to decide is my holding. I get to choose 4 options which are better detailed in the Character's Crap section.
For my four options I'm going go with:
For the two overtly negative options, I'm going to choose
As you can imagine being a hardholder isn't easy. And there are some options that obviously contradict each other. That I didn't pick.
Now with HX, I'll be nice to my friends so I'll tell everyone HX+1. I'll wait till other people's turn for more details (next page)

Moore, a Hocus, says HX=0 since you aren't a follower of mine. I say wait Moore you stole from me in the past. I'm gonna write done Hx +3.
Next Faun is up, he is a Battlebabe. He tells us all to take HX+1 since he is in public view. I could say he has been with me since before and it would still be HX+1 , but just put a different narrative flavor on things.
Now for the sake of detailing my character's gear and tying this up I would say her luxe gear is a dress similar to this, but add a bit more details. Like net stockings and 80s gloves that Madonna would wear.

- your population is small, 50-60 souls. Want: anxiety instead of want:hungry
- for gigs add protection tribute. +1 barter Want:+obligation
- your armory is extensive and sophisticated. Your gang gets +1harm
- your gang is well disciplined. Drop unruly.
