On to the long arms.
You're not likely to see many of these around, but scatterguns like the
Striker are mainly used as anti-riot measures. Most forces don't make extensive use of them - a short range and long reload times make them a poor choice for a multirole combat weapon. Doesn't mean we
won't use 'em, they make a frakking good mess when put to their proper use.
And we've come to my very favorite gun.
This is the
G36 assault rifle. It does everything a good rifle should do - that is, reliably fire bullets downrange. It's built like a tank, hardly ever jams, handles just fine when exposed to the elements... frak, I've seen one fired
just after it was pulled out of the water. The thing was submerged! Water draining out of it, and the jarhead pulls the trigger and there's steam and casings ejecting out the side. Ahhh, good times.
You'll see a lot of folk around here that prefer the
SA80, but I'm not partial to it. Too fragile. Jams when too dry, jams when too wet. Do I look like a frakking machinist? No, I'm a frakking soldier, and I want my frakking gun to frakking fire, regardless if I'm in the frakking desert or just stepping out of the frakking mess hall.
Bah. Forgetting about that one. Moving on, we've got the
Cx4 Storm that was mentioned earlier. It's multipurpose, it fires 9mm, and it's about half the weight of the rifles we just talked about. Frakk, your average 14 year old girl could fire this thing all day and not complain about the kick or weight. Even pilots like Ankles here like it.
Almost done here. Two more groups of weapons bear mentioning, but they're specialty items.
The first are rifles. We don't get much call for extra long range engagement on ships and stations, but for the occasional mission on terra firma, we have long arms like the
Model 700. Excellent stopping power, and it'll let you reach out and touch someone from 800 yards away.
Machine guns come last. When you absolutely frakking
needto rock-and-roll, look no further. It'll stop a buckethead in its tracks, and tear apart ten of its closest friends. They fire so fast, you can empty three 200 round mags in a minute. And they are
highly frakking restricted, so forget about getting your mitts on 'em.
All right, I'm done. Questions?
((My OOC recommendations...))
Type | Damage | Ranges | Clip | Strength | Size |

* - 9 again.
** - generic shotguns should hold no more than 5 shells per reload.
*** - autofire weapon
**** - firing while standing. GM's fiat on if firing from prone reduces this requirement. Effective use of a machine gun requires a crew of 2+ for continuous fire.
